Whirls, Series

2026

What holds a form together? When does it emerge, and when does it begin to dissolve?

A whirl is a structure that emerges through movement. Its form is recognizable, even though the forces that create it are constantly changing. It has a center that can be perceived both as a point of origin and as a place of disappearance.

Can human existence be understood as such a temporary constellation? What defines our identity when our bodies, perceptions, and memories are constantly changing? And where does the boundary lie between the individual and the system of which they are a part?

Emergence and dissolution are not understood as successive opposites. They can occur simultaneously. One form disappears as another comes into being.
